Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificates

Our company provides itself the fumigation services with pest controllers authorized and specialized by the Panama Maritime Authority and the Ministry of Health in Panama. Our personnel are capable to speak English and manage safety procedures established in the International Pest Management Associations regarding pest management onboard vessels.

Our personnel have permission to provide pest management services either in the Pacific Side and Atlantic Side, in every port and terminal. We can also provide derrating certificates approved by the Panama Maritime Authority which is a requirement for transit through the Panama Canal.

Derating Certificate

In Panama, the concept of a "derating certificate" is not commonly used. Instead, the term is typically associated with Ship Sanitation Control Certificates (SSCCs) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificates (SSCECs), which are required for ships to comply with international health regulations and to ensure they are free of pests and diseases. These certificates are issued by the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) after inspections and fumigation services, if necessary, are conducted to prevent the spread of pests and diseases, ensuring the safety of the crew and the environment.

All vessels transiting through the Panama Canal shall have a fumigation certificate, and most of the agencies coordinate this services through a vendor. You can arrange with us directly and we will coordinate the derrating certificate, if its expired, as it has to be valid for entering to Panamanian Waters, including the Sanitation Certificate from Ministry of Health in Panama.

Proces of fumigation includes: fogging through pump spraying machine in all cabins, bridge, messrooms, staircases, and accomodation areas in critical spaces such as galleys, store rooms and alleways.
